Pondering Peninsula Quest & Questing Lock to Lock

Remember to download the Quests from the Questing Activity page before you go.

Located in the heart of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park is the charming canal-era Village of Peninsula. It’s a great place to spend an afternoon browsing in the eclectic shops, walking the towpath and Questing! There are two Quests based here to help you discover the Village’s past and the canal that helped make it grow.

Quest Choice #1 — Pondering Peninsula takes you on a pleasant stroll through the Village — exploring the buildings past and present. You also can tour the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) Hall (1785 Main St., Peninsula, 44264). The exhibits at this Civil War Museum, housed in a beautifully restored 1880s Victorian landmark, focus on local Civil War history.

Visitor Note: Check hours in advance.

Quest Choice #2 — Lock to Lock is a fun lesson in canal history and an opportunity for a beautiful stroll along the Towpath Trail. This Quest can be done any time of day, but early morning or early evening is the best time to spot local wildlife along the way.

Sampling Peninsula — After you’ve explored the village, you may want to visit the Winking Lizard for some refreshment. A summer meal on their outdoor deck is quite enjoyable. They have many craft beers on tap for the grown-ups, free popcorn and family-friendly atmosphere for all ages.
