The Mustill Store Quest

Remember to download the Quest from the Questing Activity page before you go.

The Mustill Store (248 Ferndale St., Akron, Ohio 44304) is a canal-era store restored with colorful exhibits showcasing the time when canal-era boaters or “canallers” stopped to access supplies and perhaps share in some local gossip. This Quest starts inside the store, so check the website for last Wednesday lunch concerts and weekend hours (typically 9:30 a.m.–4 p.m. in the spring and summer).

This Quest requires some collecting of letter clues to piece together a mystery.

Tip: Clever Questers, bring a pencil and enjoy this game while exploring the locks, the store and the Towpath!

While there, take some time to cross Ferndale Street and read all about the former Schumacher Mill. Cereal magnate Ferdinand Schumacher set out to popularize the style of oatmeal he had enjoyed in his native Germany. His success was so great that newspapers dubbed him "The Oatmeal King." Later, his company merged with others to become Quaker Oats.

Worked up an appetite? Just up the street is a fun dining option.

Luigi’s — For a more family-oriented atmosphere, try Luigi’s, located across the street and known for its famous pizza and pasta. Serving folks since 1949! (105 N. Main St., Akron, 44308). Visit their website for more information.
