Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park Plans Grand Opening for New Retail Store
PENINSULA, Ohio -The Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park (Conservancy) has been hard at work this summer, renovating a space in Peninsula that will become the organization's newest retail store. The new store, Trail Mix Peninsula, replaces Park Place, which was the Conservancy's first retail space in Peninsula. The Conservancy closed Park Place to take advantage of the opportunity to become more centrally-located to the train and visitors to the area. The new retail space, located at 1600 West Mill Street in Peninsula, is in a building owned by the Peninsula Valley Historic and Education Foundation.
Trail Mix Peninsula will open with a grand opening celebration on Saturday, October 27, 2012.
The grand opening will commence with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:00 a.m. with remarks from key officials from the Conservancy, Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR), Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP), and the Village of Peninsula. The Conservancy and CVSR are joint partners in this retail venture, and train tickets and merchandise will be sold at the store.
"We look forward to serving visitors to Peninsula and Cuyahoga Valley National Park and to being a part of the Peninsula retail community," said Conservancy CEO, Deb Yandala. "We anticipate that Trail Mix Peninsula will become a popular destination, much like our seasonal Trail Mix Boston store, and will enhance people's experience in and around the national park."
The public is invited to a day of fun
The ribbon-cutting ceremony is open to the public and grand opening festivities will continue through 5:00 p.m. Additional grand opening activities include:
Introduction of the Conservancy's new mascot
Autographs by illustrator and cartoonist Jenny Campbell
On-site radio broadcast by WONE/97.5
Giveaways, refreshments and kid's activities.
In addition, people who sign up to become new members of the Conservancy will receive a one-time discount of 25% off their purchase (some exclusions apply). Existing members receive 15% off all Trail Mix purchases. The new store will feature art and jewelry crafted by local artists, Cuyahoga Valley National Park apparel and souvenirs, Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad tickets and merchandise, grab-and-go café with locally-sourced foods, and a children's area.
Park Superintendent, Stan Austin, expressed his support for the new store in saying, "I am very excited about the opening of Trail Mix Peninsula. The Conservancy and the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad are excellent partners and this effort to open a store in the heart of the Village of Peninsula will greatly assist park visitors."
