Trailheads provide entrances to the Towpath Trail.


There are 48 Trailheads in all - spread along the Towpath’s 81+ miles & spanning four counties. All but the Portage Path Trailhead in Summit County provide parking too. The parking is free and the number of spaces varies at each site - ranging from a few to 100 or more.

Looking for Trailheads? We have a few ways for you to find them - and see which amenities are available at each:

     Map It! - Want to map your trip to/from a Trailhead? Simply head to our interactive map and click the “Trailheads” box in the legend.

Trailhead Parking Rules


     County Park Districts - There is no overnight parking; your car must be out by the time the park closes.

     Cuyahoga Valley National Park - Overnight parking is available at major Trailheads and the National Park is the
     only location where the Towpath is open 24-hours-a-day. Bicyclists take note - helmet lights are required at
     night, as the Towpath is not lit. 

     National Park Visitor Note: If using the areas below for overnight parking, please inform the
     CVNP Communication Center at: (800) 433-1986 EXT 0.

  • Frazee House
  • Station Road Bridge
  • Red Lock
  • Boston Store
  • Lock 29
  • Hunt Farm
  • Indigo Lake
  • Ira Trailhead
  • Botzum
     Note: Deep Lock Quarry is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
