An important Native American transportation route in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the 8-mile trail connected the Cuyahoga and Tuscarawas Rivers. Today, the path is honored by a metal statue at the intersection of Portage Path and Merriman Road. This is a Towpath Trailhead.
