Hop aboard one of the oldest, longest and most scenic tourist excursion railways in the country.
The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) operates trains 12 months of the year, offering alternative transportation in the national park as well as a ‘Bike Aboard!’ service for bicyclists on the Towpath Trail. In addition to regularly scheduled excursions to the Canal Visitor Center, the canal-era Village of Peninsula, and Akron, the scenic railroad also presents popular special events throughout the year, including “Grape Escape” wine-tasting trains, A Day Out with Thomas™, and The Polar Express™.
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operating more than 51 miles of the historic line. It operates from Rockside Road in Independence to Howard Street in Akron.
As of May 11, 2023: Currently the Rockside, Canal Exploration Center, Brecksville and Boston Mill Stations are not being serviced by the train due to erosion repairs being made by Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
By downloading the CVSR’s Train Tracker App, you can listen to audio clips while traveling on the train. You can hear stories from the past and learn about the history of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park as well as monitor the train's speed, location and even buy tickets from your phone.
Download the app for free on Google Play or the Apple Store.
